Bowen VP's Research Published in Ag Research Journal
Max Rieley, Vice President in Bowen’s Sustainability practice, has had his academic research approved for publication in Weed Technology, a leading industry journal.
Working in the Kumar Lab at Cornell University while completing his Master’s, Max confirmed the presence of herbicide-resistant Palmer amaranth, one of agriculture’s most aggressive weeds, in New York and Connecticut. These are the first confirmed cases of herbicide resistance in these states. Max then tested and identified effective alternative herbicide combinations that farmers in the region can use to combat these resistant weeds.
“Farmers are fighting an uphill battle against growing herbicide resistance in common row-crop weeds,” Max noted. “Amid rising input costs and tight margins, this research provides them with practical, cost-effective ways to fight back.”
“Max exemplifies what makes Bowen special as a tech-focused investment bank: our deep technical expertise,” said Founder Paul Bowen. “Our leadership is drawn from CEOs, VCs, entrepreneurs, and scientists, not just from lifetime investment bankers. This technical depth enables us to better understand our clients, their industries, and their challenges in ways traditional banks cannot.”
