Bowen Celebrates 20 Years in Business: 2002-2022

A Message from Bowen’s Founder

In 2002, the internet bubble burst and the promise of the new tech economy appeared to be in peril. By the summer, Robertson Stephens, my employer and a leader in tech IPOs, had shut its doors. But my belief in the power of internet technologies to transform entire industries was strong, so I bought a laptop and started an M&A practice that has become Bowen.

Looking back on that time, it’s clear that the investments made and the lessons learned laid the groundwork for the tech industry that is now intertwined with our everyday lives. Tracking the evolution of these tech trends, Bowen has grown well beyond its early telecom focus to cover 6 growth tech sectors – Cloud & CX, Industrial, Defense, Healthcare, Agriculture and Energy.

My gratitude to our clients and our team is hard to express. Our clients’ innovative spirit and commitment to building great technologies and companies have inspired our team to give our all to help them achieve their goals and dreams. Thank you to everyone who has supported us on this journey.

As we start our 20th celebration, we will be taking a look back in time – from 2002 to 2022 – and next week we will launch Bowen’s 20 for 20. Inspired by ESPN’s 30 for 30, we will explore the top 20 innovations and moments that have defined Bowen’s growth tech focus and entrepreneurial spirit. Follow us on Bowen’s LinkedIn to join us as we look back.
